Time for some important admin stuff to get us on-schedule for 2016 .Lots to discuss, some of which I'll be starting the topics here.
First things first, I want to have two meetings over the winter in January and February. Would the Brookings OAC work again for all of you? This way we can open up and advertise it. I'd prefer not to have open meetings at one of our homes. Just call me paranoid.
1. Finances.
We need two things in the area of finances. One is a treasurer, the other is a source of income. I figure we'll have elections for 2016 positions at the February meeting.
As to finances, I'm thinking we should go with a per-flight based system, instead of annual dues or full day launches. My thinking was something along the lines of $1 per flight on A-D motors, $2 per flight E's thru G's. $5 for L1, $10 for L2, $20 for L3 when that comes around. I'd rather not hit casual fliers with bigger annual / daily fee's. This method I think would keep things open and accessible to people who aren't as hard core while not closing off high power either. Nice and balanced.
2. Bylaws.
We'll need to get some bylaws written up and formalized. Time permitting I can start writing something up for you all to review. Present in January, amend as needed, vote in February.
3. Flying schedule.
I'd love to have one of our scheduled flying days out with the guys at TSM in Minnesota. They have a nice field, and a pretty high waver at 9,000 MSL and a short window of 12,000 MSL. So we can really shoot for altitude out there. Plus it's just good to see other guys and network. Otherwise it's something to discuss in our meetings. How many days/months we want to fly and all that jazz. It would have to be June or earlier though, in case they've got corn coming up. As to our own flying situation, David's field is nice for smaller stuff. Verne, mind if we try your field first in the spring? I'm still working on a larger field closer to me. I know it's further than I'd like from Sioux Falls, but if it's big enough we can get a nice waiver locally. I'd still love to get a nice big field just south of Brookings that's a full mile, without much by way of trees or water.
4. Equipment.
Things are kinda hodge-podge right now. I'd love to get some actual "Club Owned" equipment. The only problem I have is that I currently only have smaller cars. So hauling stuff isn't really an option for me. A lot also depends on where we make our final field. If it's at a club member owned farm, that makes it potentially easy.
