Hans, I believe you said that you were planning on getting your level 2 certification sometime this month, is that right? If so, when and where were you going to do that? I might be interested in going to the launch to if it works out in my schedule.

David;
It's scheduled for September 26th at Tripoli Southern Minnesota, which is the one near Albert Lea. The only hitch is that Gary (the motor vendor) will be in Nevada that week for the BALLS launch at Black Rock. So I'll have to get my motor arranged ahead of time. Not a huge issue.... just stinks to pay that $30 hazmat shipping fee. Would be cool if you can go as well. Not sure yet if the family is coming, and if we'll be doing an early morning drive or staying overnight near there.
So far everything is looking great as far as the rocket is concerned. I'm going to hopefully do my deployment charge testing next weekend. All I have left is figuring out shear pins and charges, attaching the rail buttons, and building the GPS tracker when it arrives.

I will have to think about that date. I would like to go along if it works out. Good rocket flying weather will soon be coming to an end again with fall and winter coming. I would like to bring along my Mega Cowabunga and get their thoughts on the electronics too. I would also like to ask about going for my Level 3 to see if one of them would be my "mentor" but that is not the right term for it. Let me know if you learn more details. Dave

Mentor is pretty close, TAP is what Tripoli calls them I think. Need 2 to sign off on it, and I know that traditionally you have the TAP's on-board with the project before you start building, but they can also get involved later I believe.
I do have it arranged for me to get my motor, I think, so it's looking pretty good right now that I'll be heading there..... weather permitting. I just need to finalize my motor in the next couple of days so I can have somebody pick it up for me. I'll probably grab a couple smaller motors at the time too.

Sounds like you are getting things lined up. I will still have to wait and see how things are looking as we get closer. It would be fun just to see some rockets going up again and to see you get your Level 2. Dave

We can call it our September launch then. Let me know either way.
Since the motor vendor won't be there, I have a few people that will be able to meet up with him to get my motor. If anybody wants to order while I'm doing it, just let me know. But I have to get it settled in the next week or two to make sure I have my own in time.

Hans, I am going to try to go, but I have a bit of a complication in that I have a conference down in Council Bluffs, IA Tues-Friday. So, if the weather looks good, I will drive up from there Friday evening, probably spend the night in Albert Lee for the night then head over for the launch. It will be a good opportunity to launch a few of my new rockets that I haven't flown yet, mostly mid-power stuff but that is OK. I will enjoy seeing you get your Level 2! I can take some video of it for you or something. I got in touch with their Prefect too and he is going to mention that I am thinking about going for my Level 3 with their TAPs. Dave

David, hope you can make it, but understand if you can't. I'll probably be staying overnight in Albert Lea or Owatonna as well, then heading to Minneapolis afterwards to see my cousin and his family.

Same here. Just finishing up the last couple tweaks on my rocket, but it's capable of flying any time now.

Packed and ready to go. Word from the TSM prefect is that he isn't expecting much by way of attendance, so might be done not long after noon. So come early if you want to catch the festivities.
